Land Rights and Governance

In the quest to champion for human rights, Ereto Africa commenced a "Loita Land Rights Project" in 2020 to ensure equity in the ongoing land demarcation and safeguard the Loita Forest for the community's sustained cultural use. We have supported three community adjudication sections court cases as they fight for their rightful share of land and challenge demarcation-related irregularities. Through these court cases, some of the complaining communities were issued with restraining orders against the land adjudication committees to stop the land demarcation until identified irregularities are resolved.

We still need support to sustain these court cases and support two more in different adjudication sections to ensure equity in Loita land subdivision and secure the community’s cultural heritage (Loita forest).
